THE CELLULOID JAM SESSIONS

FEAT. HAN BENNINK & GUUS JANSSEN
SUPPORT ACT: Junior Jazz College
Han Bennink percussion, Guus Janssen piano

The idea for Celluloid Jam Sessions is inspired by the history behind the soundtrack of Ascenseur pour l’echafaud (Louis Malle, 1958). During one long night, locked into a studio and surrounded with instruments, Miles Davis improvised to create the basis for the film music. Han Bennink, probably the most adventurous percussionist in The Netherlands, will take on a similar challenge. Without rehearsal he will be tested with unexpected film fragments, shown on the spot.
