THE BAD PLUS

(students € 10) i.c.w. Holland Festival

Reid Anderson-bass, Ethan Iverson-piano, David King-drums

The boundaries of the acoustic trio, piano, bass and drums, are stretched to the limit by the Bad Plus. The American group became a worldwide success with there debut album ‘These Are The Vistas’. Last month, their fourth album titled ‘Prog’ came out, on which the group sound is again sent in new directions. The band makes a big impression with original, surprising compositions and almost insane interpretations of rock and pop classics. ‘The first really new piano trio in a long time… It’s a tornado. If you want to know where jazz is heading, look here’ (The Washington Post). About their previous Bimhuis performance the NRC Handelsblad wrote: ‘The Bad Plus glories with a completely unique idiom; jazz with a sense of humor and the power of a rock band’. On Tuesday the 19th and Wednesday the 20th of June the Bad Plus accompanies the choreography Violet Cavern of Mark Morris in the Royal Theatre Carré as a part of Holland Festival.
