‘Fresh and vibrant quintet’ (het Parool) led by trumpet player Teus Nobel, who was voted Radio 6 Soul & Jazz Talent. Featuring compositions from his new album Legacy.

This month jazz trumpet player Teus Nobel will release his album Legacy, for which he has collaborated with a renewed band. Legacy is the follow-up to his debut album Flow (2012), a mix of funk, soul, rock and jazz for which he was voted Radio 6 Soul & Jazz Talent. The Dutch press greeted the group as a ‘fresh and vibrant quintet’ (het Parool).

On the new album the band has chosen a more acoustic direction. On Legacy, Teus Nobel honors his musical heritage with special compositions dedicated to his heroes. In his own personal way the trumpet player approaches the signature styles of, among others, Miles Davis, Roy Hargrove, Woody Shaw and Christian Scott (‘Beam Me Up, Scotty’), as well as Dutch jazz heroes Jarmo Hoogendijk (‘Suite for Jarmo’) and Eric Vloeimans (‘Mr. Shiny Pants’).

At a young age Teus Nobel already toured the whole of Europe with Rotterdam Ska Jazz Foundation. Since then he has added well-known Dutch names to his curriculum, including Kyteman Orchestra, Caro Emerald and Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra. He played a prominent role in the band of soul singer Frank McComb (ex-Buckshot LeFonque). Currently he is the solo trumpeter of the Dutch Royal Air Force Orchestra, which has been playing pop and jazz for 15 years now.

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
