Tetzepi means: ’the time before the awareness of time’, a well chosen name, because with the manoeuvrability of a small ensemble, this big band is reinventing the jazz tradition in their own, highly original way, averse to dogmas and worn paths. They can overwhelm with powerful grooves and multicoloured layers of harmony but also evoke sober and quiet panoramic views. The big band will also perform a composition, especially written for this occasion, with Het Nieuw Nederlands Zangtheater, a mixed choir of twenty voices.
