Trumpet player Suzan Veneman has quickly established herself with her melodic and soulful sound. After finishing her studies in the USA she has been fulfilling her role not only as a talented musician, but also as a promising composer and arranger. Her music is warm and heartfelt, filled with adventurous movement and colorful harmony.
On her debut album Migrations of the Mind, Suzan explores the stages of grief in a three part suite, capturing the emotions she went through after being diagnosed with MS. It is a powerful and moving journey that concludes in an energetic finale, which expresses her newly found acceptance and vigor. Suzan recorded her debut album with her sextet, with which she will perform at the BIMHUIS.
