The reunited Surinam Music Ensemble presents a new addition to its already impressive list of guest soloists. Bennie Maupin has played bass clarinet with Miles Davis (Bitches Brew) and tenor sax with Herbie Hancock (Headhunters), delivering a vital contribution to the enrichment of jazz with funk, rock and non-western music. The Surinam Music Ensemble celebrated great success with Paramaribop, an energetic combination of jazz and Surinamese styles. The original players have joined forces again after almost 20 years.
