Sur Sangam
Abhishek Lahiri – Sarod
Somdatta Chatterjee – Vocal
Parthasarathi Mukherjee – Tabla
Abhisek Lahiri explores the connection between the strings of the sarod, the instrument he plays, and the human voice. Indian classical music has always evolved around vocal music, with solo instruments departing from the expressions and phrasings of the voice.
This concert opens with an instrumental part, with sarod and tabla, followed by a vocal part featuring renowned vocalist Somdatta Chatterjee, who was taught Indian music from a very young age by her grandmother, her father and her uncle, among others.
