The young alto and soprano saxophonist Stefano Di Battista causes quite a stir with music that seems to come straight from the heart. Unmistakably influenced by John Coltrane he is a great explorer in his solos. He recorded three CDs for Blue Note, the last one in collaboration with legendary ex-Coltrane drummer Elvin Jones who was so impressed by Di Battista that he instantly hired him for a world tour with the Elvin Jones Jazzmachine.
