In our new series with renowned solo performers from the jazz world, we present Stefano Bollani. Colorful fireworks adorn the cover of his new solo album Blooming, a perfect illustration of the lavish style of the Italian piano master. On second view, the image could also represent flowers, symbolising the rebirth and revival of an absolute phenomenon.

Stefano Bollani, a celebrity in his homeland Italy, is a jazz pianist, as well as a novelist and a television personality. With his brilliant improvisations he caught the public’s eye in the ensembles of trumpeter Enrico Rava, his mentor. He collaborated with big names from jazz, classical, pop, film music and avant-garde, such as Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, and Richard Galliano. A highlight in his discography is his solo album Piano Solo on the legendary label ECM Records.
