SPOON 3 AND THE ART MEN

Vocals, piano and double bass interact with electronica in Spoon 3 + 1 Fork. Singer Jodi Gilbert sets the tone with original or appropriated lyrics, that are absurd, poetic, clever and comical. Robert van Heumen controls the sounds with laptop and joystick. Pianist Albert van Veenendaal and double bassist Meinrad Kneer also appear as Art Men, featuring trumpet player Bart Maris. He is a constant presence in Flemish music, from the outskirts of jazz to CDs by successful bands such as dEUS and Zita Swoon. Electronically altered trumpet and ‘prepared piano’ are woven together by the fluent, colorful drumming of Yonga Sun.
