Spoken Beat Night plays with language and turns it into music. For every edition, spoken word artist Jeannine Valeriano invites remarkable guests for an evening full of poetry, lectures, jazz, funk and live animation by ‘comic-jockeys’ Flo and Ckoe. The speakers will share the stage with top players from the cosmopolitan world of improvisation, who will pull the words into the realm of music.
Special guests are scientist Bas Haring, percussionist Tatiana Koleva and young beat author Tommy Ventevogel. Philosopher, author and presenter Bas Haring is a convincing storyteller, who will unfold his vision on science accompanied by Tatiana Koleva. This Bulgarian-born percussionist is known for her accessible approach to new music, as a soloist as well as with ensembles such as ASKO/Schönberg. Her specialism is the marimba, the wooden percussion instrument that she plays with four mallets at the same time.
The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
