The explosive band Spinifex celebrates its 10-year anniversary with the extended ensemble spinifeX maXimus. ‘Patchwork of styles… the math metal synergy shines’ (de Volkskrant).

The singular group Spinifex celebrates its 10-year anniversary with a very special ensemble: spinifeX maXimus. The Spinifex Quintet line-up will be joined by extraordinary musicians from Europe and the US. Spinifex will also present a 5CD-box with an overview of the past 10 years.

Spinifex, named after a tough Australian species of grass, may at first sound like a combination of jazzcore, metal and other Western contemporary music. However, beneath the surface the listener will discover ancient cyclical rhythms from Turkish and India musical cultures. The band members themselves describe their music as ‘extremely tight irregular structures and extensive free improvising.’
