NEW FOLK REVIVAL WITH SPIERS & BODEN

In recent years folk duo Spiers & Boden have become forerunners of the current English folk-revival. Both in 2004 and 2006 they won the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards for best duo. They are also the founders of the successful folk big band Bellowhead. John Spiers plays melodeon, guitar and other squeezeboxes, while Jon Boden sings, plays the fiddle and keeps the beat on the stomp box. They bring a modern form of spontaneous, punky English folk that has its roots in traditional Morris dance music. With just a few acoustic instruments the duo creates a multitude of textures with a real groove. Ideal for a lock-in in the Bimhuis.
