SOUKAST

SIMONE SOU & GUILHERME KASTRUP Feat. Oleg Fateev

Simone Sou, Guilherme Kastrup percussie, Oleg Fateev accordeon

Two of Brazil’s greatest drummers, Simone Sou and Guilherme Kastrup, create spectacular new music with traditional Brazilian rhythms and live sampling. Special guest: bayan player Oleg Fateev.

For the first time they will perform in Amsterdam with their duo Soukast: Simone Sou and Guilherme Kastrup, two of Brazil’s greatest drummers and percussionists. They’ve previously played together in the band of the famous Brazilian singer Chico César. With Soukast they create a breathtaking mixture of traditional Brazilian rhythms and chants with contemporary sounds. Special guest at this concert is Oleg Fateev, virtuoso of the bayan, the Russian accordion. With his harmonic and melodic input he will bridge the gap between Brazil and his native Moldavia.

‘Soukast creates a world of rhythm. It’s calculation and freedom, joy and pain, isolation and togetherness, thought and action, and fluidity and solidity rolled into one’ (All About Jazz about the album Sounds of Life by Soukast and Benjamin Taubkin).

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
