SONNY FORTUNE QUINTET

If there is any musician able to invoke the spirit of Miles it is Sonny Fortune, because the American sax player has created four albums together with Miles: Big Fun, Agartha, Pangaea and Get Up With It. At the concert ‘In The Spirit Of Miles’ he will play with his part American, part Dutch quintet.

Sonny Fortune has built up a strong reputation in the jazz world as alto- and soprano saxophonist, flutist and composer. He has played with Elvin Jones, McCoy Tyner and Dizzy Gillespie, and he has released several albums under his own name, among them three LPs on Blue Note.

Sonny Fortune’s current band includes Dutch upright bassist Joris Teepe, who has live in New York for 22 years and who has brought over plenty of great music from New York to The Netherlands.
