Saxophone player Sonny Fortune achieved legendary status; chronologically, he played with Elvin Jones, Mongo Santamaria, Buddy Rich, McCoy Tyner and, last but not least, Miles Davis, on the albums Agartha and Pangaea from 1975. On his own CDs he regularly honoured the invocatory playing of his great example John Coltrane. At the Bimhuis he will meet a Dutch colleague of exceptional stature, Benjamin Herman. The two alto saxophonists will be accompanied by the trio of pianist Rein de Graaff.
