Sonic Acts Festival is a bi-annual event with a strong focus on contemporary and historical developments within art, music, science and technology.
The 17th edition, titled The Noise of Being, takes place from 23 to 26 February 2017 at various locations in Amsterdam. The festival includes a conference, multiple exhibitions, concerts, performances and screenings, highlighting on a wide spectrum of contemporary practices.
On Saturday 25 February we present audiovisual performances by fiercely independent, singular navigators of acoustic and electronic soundworlds. With Kara-Lis Coverdale who experiments with the building blocks of musical beauty to speak a language that not everyone speaks yet; abstract ambient classical music by Christina Vantzou; field recordings by BJ Nilsen & Karl Lemieux; and experimental explorations of anxiety and serenity by Asher Levitas. Installations by Peter Burr and by Matthew Biedermann & Pierre Warnecke dive deep into the intricacies of human perception. After midnight the programme continues in the Bimhuis with MSHR and other futuristic sounds.
A whole evening and night of transcendent and ecstatic sensory experiences celebrating the noise of being!
