SOESJA CITROEN’S THE SINGER & THE SONGWRITER * * * HEIN VAN DE GEYN’S BASELINE

A double concert revolving around Soesja Citroen and Hein van de Geyn, both celebrating 25 years of professional musicianship. The Singer & The Songwriter proves that Citroen is not just a fabulous vocalist but also an excellent composer. Her most recent CD ‘Don’t Cry Baby’ contains sixteen new songs, in which various forms and styles are playfully united. Baseline ‘is about melody, atmosphere and sound’ is how the musicians describe their own music. The trio, with the solid, powerful and still subtle bass sound of Van de Geyn blends Brazilian sounds, folk and classical music in which refined elegance is clearly present.
