Signe Emmeluth’s Amoeba

In the press she’s mentioned in the same breath as pioneering radicals Albert Ayler and Peter Brötzmann. Saxophonist Signe Emmeluth has recently graced our stage as part of Gard Nilssen’s mesmerizing Supersonic Orchestra. She has collaborated with the likes of Paal Nilssen-Love and Mette Rasmussen. Now she will perform here with her band, which features some of the most celebrated musicians in the current wave of Scandinavian avant-jazz.
Pianist Christian Balvig plays with Danish supergroup Efterklang and has composed music for large orchestras such as Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra. Guitarist Karl Bjorå leads the bands Megalodon Collective, Yes Deer and Aperture. And drummer Ole Mofjell has played with ECM recording legend Jon Balke and with guitarist Hedvig Mollestad. Emmeluth’s Amoeba has released the albums Polyp and Chimaera on the Norwegian label Øra Fonogram.
