The musicians of Sierra Maestra promote Son, the Cuban style that forms the foundation of salsa. In the 1970s, when the synthesizer was hip, Sierra Maestra went back to acoustic instruments to play the Son Cubano like it was done in the 1920s and 30s. Former bandleader Juan de Marcos Gonzáles was a crucial founder and member of the Buena Vista Social Club and the Afro-Cuban All Stars. Traditional dance music by one of Cuba’s most important and popular groups.
