SCHLIPPENBACH TRIO

Alex von Schlippenbach-piano, Evan Parker-soprano saxophone, tenor saxophone, Paul Lovens-drums

This trio is a monument in the European improvised music, probably only to be compared to the close collaboration of Misha Mengelberg and Han Bennink. Once inspired by Cecil Taylor’s trio of 1963 (the Copenhagen records with Jimmy Lyons and Sunny Murray), Schlippenbach, Parker and Lovens soon found their own way. Straight improvised music in which they have layed down a standard for over three decades. It has been exactly five years since their last performance at the Bimhuis. That memorable 1999 concert has been recorded and released by the German FMP label on the double-CD, ‘Swinging the Bim’.
