Prior to each NewLands Festival concert you will have the opportunity to get to know the musicians and to immerse yourself in the secrets and the essence of Arabic and Persian music — every evening from a different perspective, informed by the unique character of each program. Sometimes we will go into artictic process of musicians from Western and Eastern music cultures and sometimes we will focus on Arabic poetry or a remarkable instrument. These are intimate meetings, where the audience has the opportunity to ask questions.
Meet Rima Khcheich and Sara Hamidi: two female voices, two cultures. Their singing voices sound amazing, but what are they singing exactly? What do the lyrics express and what are their origins? What are the special traits of Persian and Arabic vocal styles? These and many more questions will be discussed in this first Salon Joussour.
