World famous singer Salif Keita from Mali, ‘the golden voice of Africa’, performs his best songs in an intimate concert, accompanied by acoustic instruments.

Salif Keita is known as ‘the golden voice of Africa’ and ‘the greatest West-African singer since Youssou n’Dour’ (NRC). Following worldwide success with tours and albums in many styles he now performs in an intimate setting, accompanied by acoustic instruments including guitar, kora, n’goni and percussion. The song selection offers an overview of his impressive repertoire.

Salif Keita has had to fight for recognition; as an albino child he was seen as cursed in his homeland Mali and his distinguished family did not accept him becoming a musician. He made name in afro bands such as Super Rail Band de Bamako and Les Ambassadeurs Internationeaux. His solo career blossomed in Paris. Salif Keita performed for Nelson Mandela, appeared on the soundtrack of Ali and collaborated with legendary musicians such as Wayne Shorter, Joe Zawinul and Carlos Santana. These days he devotes himself to peace in his home country and to the acceptance of albinos.

‘Salif Keita has the finest, most distinctive male voice in Africa’ (The Guardian).

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158).
