Rymden is Swedish for ‘space’, and one could indeed regard the three band members as space travelers. On their album Space Sailors they depart the earth’s atmosphere to explore the cosmos with piano, keyboards, bass and drums, complemented with electronics and effects. Ambiance and melody collide with heavy riffs and beats. Space Sailors is the perfect sequel to the group’s first album Reflections and Odysseys.
Rymden emerged from two legendary Scandinavian bands, New Conception of Jazz and E.S.T. With New Conception of Jazz, Bugge Wesseltoft embraced new styles of dance and electronic music. E.S.T. represented a new and original vision on the piano trio and was led by pianist Esbjörn Svensson, who passed away unexpectedly. In Rymden, Bugge Wesseltoft plays bassist Dan Berglund and drummer and drummer Magnus Öström, the remaining members of E.S.T.
