Rumbatá, the formation of percussionist Jaime Rodriguez has a lot more to show for than just plain salsa music, which makes it the most interesting salsa band of the Netherlands. Sure, they burn down the house, also in this extensive line up, but there is much more going on. There’s a great variation in suspense and release, thanks to the traditional ‘claves’ from Rodriguez’ native country Colombia and the melodic subtlety that usually is denied and overruled by machismo and power play by many ‘salseros’. The jazz minded soloists also have a lot to say.
