The band members of Rubatong all come from totally different musical directions. Guitarist Rene van Barneveld toured the world with rock and rap formation Urban Dance Squad. Bassist and improviser Luc Ex played with legendary punk group The Ex and Tatiana Koleva is a classically trained percussionist, known from eccentric ensembles like Electra. In 2006 they played together for the first time at the Bimhuis at the initiative of Han Buhrs, who sets the tone with his hypnotic vocal art.
