It’s always a special treat whenever a star of the caliber of Roy Hargrove performs at the BIMHUIS. The American trumpet player is famous for his impressive tone, finding his way in every genre. Jazz and bop are important factors in his music, which often diverges surprisingly towards funk, hip-hop and latin.

Roy Hargrove started his career at a very young age playing with Wynton Marsalis and he soon chose his own path. Aside from his solo-career he has made remarkable guest appearances on albums by Erykah Badu, D’Angelo and John Mayer.

‘He’s never been short of hipness… he has a flaring tone and a lyrical warmth… his fusing of traditional and contemporary music turns his gigs into exuberant jazz history lessons’ (The Guardian).
