INCEPTION FEAT. ALEX SIPIAGIN
Alex ‘Sacha’ Sipiagin trompet, Paul van der Feen altsax, Clemens van der Feen bas, Roy Dackus drums
This new band originated from spontaneous, magical sessions between renowned Amsterdam jazz players and trumpeter Alex Sipiagin from New York, key member of the Mingus Big Band.
From the first note on it became clear that these musicians had to form a band together. The spontaneous magic originated during two Amsterdam jazz sessions, where New York trumpeter Alex Sipiagin was the guest with the trio of alto sax player Paul van der Feen, double bassist Clemens van der Feen and drummer Roy Dackus. They immediately hit the studio with a number of original compositions and standards. This autumn the result will appear under the name Inception. The album was mixed and mastered in New York by the well-known engineer David Darlington, who worked with Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Sting and many others.
Alex Sipiagin grew up in Russia, where he studied trumpet since the age of 12. Before the wall came down he didn’t dare to dream he would once become a named player in New York, collaborating with famous artists such as Michael Brecker and Eric Clapton. He made name in, among others, the Mingus Big Band and Dave Holland’s groups. The other members of Inception are key players in, among others, the Metropole Orchestra, Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw and the Royal Concertgebouworkest.
