The Amsterdam Conservatory is bursting with young, passionate musicians who experiment freely and launch new initiatives. From late May to late June, our stage is the setting for these Rough Diamonds, with two bands per evening, free and open to the public. Tonight’s performers:
Andrew Moreno Trio
Andrew Moreno connects intricate composed structures with the freedom of improvisation. His compositions draw from a wide range of sources: visual art, the harmonic concepts of Messiaen and Schönberg, and spontaneous melodic exploration combine into a distinctive personal sound.
Andrew Moreno guitar, Aniol Torrents double bass, Ludvig Søndergaard drums
INNEC
INNEC is an Amsterdam-based quartet whose name derives from Wassily Kandinsky’s concept of “Inner Necessity”: a drive towards purity in music, free from convention yet rooted in the present. The four musicians from Spain, Slovenia, Sweden and Denmark move along the frontier between contemporary music and experimental jazz, combining rhythmically and melodically complex compositions with free improvisation.
Marcus Warnheim sax, Alexander Sever vibraphone, Ignacio Pinto double bass, Ludvig Søndergaard drums
