Pedal and lap steel guitar ace Roosevelt Collier is highly renowned in the guitar world. ‘The Dr’, as he is known, has performed alongside many greats such as Buddy Guy, Los Lobos en The Allman Brothers Band. His own music can be described as a mixture of blues, gospel and rock, or in his words: ‘dirty funk swampy grime’.
Roosevelt Collier was raised in the ‘sacred steel’ tradition in the American gospel church. He made name accompanying The Lee Boys, who are known for their erth-shaking performances. His debut album Exit 16 appeared on GroundUP Music, the label of the successful jazz band Snarky Puppy. Producer was Snarky Puppy leader Michael League, who plays alongside Collier in the group Bokanté.
