ROMENGO

Monika Lakatos-vocals, dance, Mihály “Mazsi” Rostás-vocals, guitar, szajbögözé (oral bass), János “Guszti” Lakatos-kruik, szajbögözé (oral bass), percussion, dance, Mihály István Kovács-violin

The Hungarian group Romengo represents the new generation of gipsy musicians who are, now more than ever, inspired by contemporary music coming from all directions. Vocalist Monika Lakatos collaborated with singer and guitarist Mihály “Mazsi” Rostás in the group Romano Drom, one of the first gipsy groups that broke through in the West. Unique is the virtuoso playing of the szajbögözé, a bass instrument played with the mouth.
