Between 1999 and 2001, pianist Roberto Fonseca (Havana, 1975) presented three solo albums and worked on numerous other projects. Due to his versatility he was invited as a successor of Ruben Gonzalez in the Buena Vista Social Club where he was shining next to Ibrahim Ferrer and Omara Portuondo. He recently collaborated with Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and Michael Becker. With musical partner Javier Zalba he started working on new material in 2004 which resulted in the album ‘Zamazu’, recently released by Enja. ‘He is paving the way firmly for Buena Vista Social Club: The Next Generation.’ (Variety Magazine).
