Italian singer Roberta Gambarini, who lives in New York, reached the top of the Downbeat Critics Poll 2008 in the category Rising Star Female Vocalist. Her relaxed, yet flexible style of singing and scatting was recorded wonderfully recorded on You Are There, the intimate duo record she made with pianist Hank Jones.
