In this unique collaboration, the American guitarist Robben Ford and Dutch XL band Licks & Brains share their passion to explore new musical paths without losing sight of true emotion and inspiration. They play compositions from Robben Ford’s latest album ‘Pure’, arranged by bandleader Rolf Delfos (Saxophone Quartet Artvark, Jazzinvaders) and his musical companion Erwin Hoorweg (Houdini’s, Jazzinvaders). Both the blues and jazz rock with which Robben Ford has been tremendously successful will be amply heard in this concert.
Robben Ford is one of the most acclaimed guitarists of his generation, best known for his blues and jazz rock playing, and his ability to feel comfortable in a variety of musical contexts. He has been nominated for a Grammy five times and has played with artists as diverse as Joni Mitchell, Miles Davis, George Harrison, Bonnie Raitt, Michael McDonald, Bob Dylan, John Scofield, Keb Mo, Larry Carlton, Mavis Staples, and many others. Robben Ford’s refined approach to the blues can always be heard in his playing, but his style is much more diverse in song structure and sound.
