RITA REYS QUINTET

Europe’s First Lady of Jazz’, just turned 80 and still embodies the absolute top of jazz singing. With her fabulous phrasing and swing, intensified through the years, she knows how to vitalize lyrics and music. Her seriously delayed Bimhuis debut of last year was a triumph and is followed by a new debut in a new Bimhuis combined with the presentation of a CD with marvelous historical recordings: Rita Reys – I Got Rhythm – Rare and unissued recordings with Boy’s Big Band, Theo Loevendie, Lars Gullin, Mat Mathews, Pim Jacobs, Piet van Dijk & Wessel Ilcken (Nederlands Jazz Archief NJA 0501).
