RICKY FORD / KIRK LIGHTSEY DUO

The excellent tenor player Ricky Ford toured with Duke Ellington (1974-1976), Charles Mingus (1976-1977) and Dannie Richmond (1978-1981). Kirk Lightsey (1937) played several years in Dexter Gordon’s band. After that he worked with Don Cherry, Clifford Jordan and James Moody and he was a part of The Leaders, the all star band with Lester Bowie, Arthur Blythe, Chico Freeman, Cecil McBee and Famoudou Don Moye. Ford en Lightsey have been collaborating closely for over 25 years now.
