RICCARDO TESI & BANDITALIANA
Claudio Carboni saxofoon, Maurizio Geri gitaar/zang, Riccardo Tesi accordeon, Gigi Biolcati percussie
Magical mix of jazz, Tuscan folk and rhythms from all over the world by this top Italian band led by accordion master Riccardo Tesi.
Banditaliana passionately supports the traditional music of Italy, especially Tuscany. Its leader is accordion player Riccardo Tesi, a groundbreaking composer as well as a researcher who brought a new dimension to Italian folk, with respect for history. He has worked with great singers such as Catherina Bueno and Fabrizio d’André, and founded Banditaliana in 1992.
For this group Riccardo Tesi found some dedicated musicians. Maurizio Geri combines his passionate vocals with gipsy jazz guitar improvisations. Sax player Claudio Carboni creates space with his phrasing taken from ballo liscio, Italian ballroom dance music. Some years ago the group welcomed the eccentric percussionist ‘fast foot’ Gigi Biolcati. This year saw the release of a new Banditaliana album entitled Maggio.
The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
