Guitarist Rez Abbasi and alto saxophonist Rudresh Mahanthappa come from the class of American musicians who are renewing jazz from their Indian background. Together with Vijay Iyer they played in the group Invocation. Their CD Things To Come (2009) was listed in Downbeat among the ‘Best Albums Of The Decade’. Abbasi’s trio and Mahanthappa will play music from their recent release Continuous Beat, a trio album full of Indian and Pakistani influences alongside compositions by Gary Peacock and Keith Jarrett.
