Master ud player Ahmed El Maai challenges guitar player Reinier Baas to interweave Turkish musical traditions with jazzy sounds. Together they investigate how two people from completely different backgrounds can meet in music. The result: breathtaking.
Guitarist Reinier Baas likes to cross musical boundaries. As a composer, band leader and guitarist he has already explored many genres: from chamber music and opera to improvised music and jazz. Now he takes a closer look at traditional ud music and translates the subtle nuances of this instrument to the guitar.
