REIN DE GRAAFF’S 70TH BIRTHDAY JAZZ PARTY

REIN DE GRAAFF TRIO WITH A.O. HOUSTON PERSON, SYLVIA DROSTE, BENJAMIN HERMAN, BEN VAN GELDER

Rein de Graaff piano, Marius Beets bass, Eric Ineke drums, Houston Person tenor sax, Silvia Droste vocals, Ellister trumpet, Benjamin Herman, Ben van Gelder alto sax, Martijn van Iterson guitar

Pianist Rein de Graaff has been playing bebop since the 1950s. In New York he met the inventors of the genre and subsequently brought many great American soloists to The Netherlands. For his 70th birthday he has invited saxophone giant Houston Person, famous for his soulful playing and ‘low, urgent tone’ (Penguin Guide to Jazz). On top of that, ‘Dr. Bop’ De Graaff welcomes ‘Germany’s First Lady of Jazz’ Silvia Droste, as well as Dutch alto sax heroes Benjamin Herman and Ben van Gelder.

After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
