Yoràn Vroom – A Forgotten Story…

Great drum talent on a quest to new forms, guided by his personal history.

REFLEX
Jazz finds roots in activism. In challenging or bypassing conventions. A conversation with the status quo. In its most free for –  improvisation – jazz is constantly searching for new forms of interaction. This quest and the conversations that are found are central to REFLEX. In the series we invite musicians to make new work that reflects on the world and its society.

On the 17th of June Yoràn Vroom will present ‘A Forgotten Story…’ – a reflection over the past two years in music and dance. Yoràn Vroom will go on a quest through his personal history, inviting his friends and family along the trip down memory lane. Like a history student in the next century, who must rely on remaining sources.”

Yoràn Vroom is one of the greatest drums talents in The Netherlands. He attributes a major part of his development to his studies with drummer Eddy Veldman, and with percussionist Ponda O’Bryan. Yoràn Vroom teaches drumming at the jazz department of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. He has collaborated with internationally renowned musicians such as Frank McComb, Ed Motta, Cory Henry, and Kinga Głyk.
