RAY ANDERSON QUARTET

i.c.w. VPRO Radio

Ray Anderson-trombone, Lew Soloff-trumpet, Lonnie Plaxico-bass, Bobby Previte-drums

One of his compositions is called ‘If I Ever Had a Home it was a Slide Trombone,’ and with six consecutive Downbeat Awards to his credit, Ray Anderson proves that this statement isn’t an exaggeration. He has full command over his instrument, but he dares to put aside his classical training and explore new sounds as well. ‘Ray’s chops are phenomenal – from swooping legato to breakneck staccato, from the nastiest growls to the sweetest whimpers,’ (Downbeat).
