RAVI COLTRANE QUARTET
Ravi Coltrane tenor saxophone, Luis Perdomo piano, Drew Gress bass, E.J. Strickland drums
Saxophone player Ravi Coltrane developed his advanced style mainly outside the influence of his legendary parents. It was not until the past few years that he began to make a determined effort to research his own musical heritage. He collaborated intensively with his mother Alice shortly before her death in 2007. In the same year he became a member of Saxophone Summit, in which he plays compositions of his father John. His most recent CD is a high point in his oeuvre. ‘Blending Times is Ravi’s most emotionally charged, fully realized statement to date’ (JazzTimes).
