RAMSEY LEWIS TRIO

Souljazz is back. Playing around with rhythm & blues and gospel is great fun. One of the songs that define the genre is ‘The In Crowd’, an enormous hit record from 1965 of piano player Lewis who was also topping the charts with ‘Hang on Sloopy’ and ‘Wade in the Water’. His strong points are a spectacular technique, timing that swings and a fine nose for a good ‘hook’.
