Terry Riley is a living legend. In 2015 he was the central composer of the Minimal Music Festival for five days in Amsterdam for concerts and lectures. Riley has spent years immersing himself in Indian music and his work is strongly influenced by improvisational forms. For example, the performers of Sunrise and In C are able to tell in which parts they play and still get a lot of freedom within Riley’s compositions. In this way, these works remain fresh and they always sound like new.
