Rafael Riqueni Trio & María Moreno

When Rafael Riqueni made his grandiose return to the stage in 2014, after a long abscence, he received a historical ‘olé’ and collective praise from the Sevilla crowd. Critics cheered: ‘The new god of flamenco guitar’, and: ‘Riqueni is not a guitarist, he is the guitar itself.’

For his Dutch debut performance he will bring a star formation featuring renowned guitarists Salvador Gutiérrez and Manuel de la Luz and dancer María Moreno, who has been hailed by the Spanish press as ‘a new star in the fertile contemporary flamenco landscape’. With this exquisite quartet, Riqueni presents his album Parque de María Luisa, a lyrical stroll through the eponymous park in Sevilla, where the colors and smells of the city come together. Riqueni’s free creativity and sublime melodies make him one of the top living guitar virtuosos, also for other guitarists.

‘Viva Riqueni. Parque María Luisa: A Masterpiece of Unparalleled beauty’ (El País).

‘This is music that reminds us that we are alive, that this precious gift lasts for an instant. The guitarist is an envoy of the gods, a priest in a sacred ritual in which we all recognize each other’ (Diario de Sevilla).

‘A song to life, to the force of nature, to the hidden beauty of Seville. Parque María Luisa: a Miracle Beyond Words’ (El Mundo).
