PUMPORGAN

WITH SPECIAL GUEST JEROEN KIMMAN
Make With The Feet
Dirk Bruinsma compositie/altsax/bas/zang, Christian Ferlaino baritonsax, Wilbert Bulsink hammond/zang, Mikael Szafirowski (bas)gitaar/zang, Nout Ingen Housz drums/percussie/zang. Special guest: Jeroen Kimman (bas)gitaar

Pumporgan plays PsychoJive, an energetic blend of avant-rock, rhythm and blues, Hammond jazz and more. ‘They add a firm splash of psychedelia to their awkward dance rhythms’ (JazzFlits).

Pumporgan amazes with their propulsive blend of old and new styles, a physical challenge for the five band members and an adventure for the listener. The group was founded by multi-instrumentalist Dirk Bruinsma. In response to the composition assignment of the North Sea Jazz Festival in 2011 he developed PsychoJive, a singular new style that takes off from rock ‘n’ roll and rhythm and blues, but with unexpected twists and turns, played by musicians from avant-rock and free jazz. Band leader Bruinsma regularly switches between alto sax and bass guitar, linking the baritone sax of Christiano Ferlaino, the electric guitars of Mikael Szafirowsky, the Hammond organ of Wilbert Bulsink and the drums of Nout Ingen Housz.

Pumporgan will play songs of the recent CD Make With The Feet (Trytone, 2015) and (even) new(er) repertoire.

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 till 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
