Ticketsale starts at May 9th, 1 PM ‘Pierre Courbois is one of modern Dutch jazz’s most important stylists as well as one of , its most prominent ambassador abroad, and the embodiment of the creative spirit that characterizes this type of music.’ ‘Courbois has remained a great and unique stylist, as evidenced by his current 5/4 Sextet, in which every possibility to swing in this time signature is explored with fresh, original and compelling compositions.’ Two quotes from the jury report of the VPRO/Boy Edgar Prize 2008, the most prestigious award in the Netherlands for jazz and improvised music, which awarded to drummer, composer and band leader Pierre Courbois. For this occasion Courbois put together a programme that includes the Gong Duo, Waterland Sextet, Pierre Courbois 5/4 Sextet and BCDE.
