The jury shows great appreciation for the way in which tenor/alto saxophonist Luc Houtkamp developed his own style…’ ‘His activities in the field of composed, electronic music run parallel with his developments as a saxophonist. Besides that he should be considered a pioneer in the domain of interactive computer music.’ ‘Houtkamp builds bridges between the world of jazz, free improvisation and electronic music.’ A few quotes from the report by the jury that awarded saxophonist, composer and bandleader Luc Houtkamp the VPRO/Boy Edgar Prize 2004, the most prestigious Dutch prize in the field of jazz and improvised music. Houtkamp put together a program with FOURinONE, POW Ensemble, Ernst Reijseger and Wiek Hijmans. Ticket sales are limited for these concerts, reservations can be made from Monday March 14, 1 P.M. on telephone number +31(0)20 788 2188 The VPRO will broadcast an impression of this concert on a date to be announced later.
