For well over 45 years Willem Breuker has played a leading role in Dutch music, as a musician, composer, arranger and organizer. Together with his Kollektief he presented an adventurous mixture of jazz, free improvisation and contemporary classical, as well as music for theatre and circus, often enlivened by his highly personal sense of humor.

Arjen Gorter and Bernard Hunnekink, Kollektief members from the very beginning, have now compiled an anthology from the ensemble’s enormous body of work. The 11 splendidly remastered CDs have been arranged according to various themes, for example music for film, theatre or strings, songs and longer, more intricate pieces. Many of these recordings are out of print and some are previously unreleased, such as the complete soundtrack to the film Faust, and the farewell concert Happy End.
